A Celebration of the Creative
Lots of “oohs” and “ahs” were heard as dozens gathered to create artworks at Puget Sound Blood Center’s Faces for Life Painting Party, held the evening of Sunday, January 6th at the Bellevue Hyatt Regency.

Aprons in place, brushes firmly in hand and paints at the ready, these ardent supporters of the Blood Center put their talents to the test. Native American motifs, the avante garde, the iridescent: all styles found a place at the table set to help the artist create. And a number of artists brought their own supplies to help create something truly unique.

“What fun! I am amazed to see the quality of the work being done right here in the room,” said one attendee. “Some people brought their own paints and fabric and I saw that someone even brought a drill to help them with their design.”

Attendees included former Sonics coach and Hall of Famer Lenny Wilkens; Dr. Richard Counts, Blood Center President and CEO; Steve Hix, CEO of PhixFocus; Sherry Raisbeck; and Tracy McHugh of F.X. McRory’s.

Of course, the event only happened with the gracious support of the event host, Bellevue Square; artist and speaker, Brian Major of MajorArts; the work of the Faces Committee and other volunteers committed to make the Blood Center’s Faces for Life Auction and Gala a success.

The artworks created at the Painting Party will be auctioned along with other artworks created by Blood Center patrons, with the proceeds benefiting research conducted at the Blood Center.

All masks and artworks will be on display at Bellevue Square Monday, February 25, 2008 – Friday, March 14, 2008. Bellevue Square's hours are:

  • Monday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
